We have to stop playing\nthe victim.\u201d<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dubai, UAE, <\/strong><strong>17<\/strong><strong>\nFebruary 2020<\/strong>:\nGhada Othman, Director of INSEAD Women in Business Club, led a breakout session\nat Global Women\u2019s Forum Dubai (GWFD) 2020, which explored effective mentorship\nstrategies to increase women\u2019s capabilities, inclusion and access to leadership\npositions. Othman discussed how to overcome challenges in striking a work-life\nbalance, while still pursuing a successful career. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two-day GWFD 2020 was held at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai, UAE,\nunder the patronage of <strong>His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum<\/strong>,\nVice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and Ruler of\nDubai. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the session,<strong> Othman <\/strong>said:<em>\u201cWork-life balance is\nabout you. It is about what you want and getting what you want. If you want to\nensure you get what you want, you have to claim your power. We have to stop\nplaying the victim.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Othman and\nthe audience exchanged personal experiences, touching upon their stories,\njourneys and perceptions on women in leadership roles and what they aspire to\nachieve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Othman <\/strong>added<strong>: \u201c<\/strong><em>Happiness\nis about perception and how you see your life. Happiness is about your way of\nseeing life and things happening in life according to what you want.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Othman also highlighted the importance of leading a happy life to succeed\nboth personally and professionally. She stressed that she is a mother of two, a\nwife and works a full-time job, but that never stops her from achieving her\ngoals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Othman became one of the first and youngest female general managers in\nthe retail industry in Egypt and continues to break down barriers through her\npassion and dedication to driving change. Attendees also shared their insights\ninto what happiness means to them, which sparked a fruitful and inspiring discussion\nabout what drives their personal success and growth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Othman ended the session by advising attendees to choose quality over\nquantity, whether it is with family, friends or work, as she believes that\u2019s\nthe key to having a healthy work-life balance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Global Women\u2019s Forum Dubai 2020 is organised by Dubai Women\nEstablishment, which is led by <strong>Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin\nRashid Al Maktoum<\/strong>, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council and wife of\nHH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister\nof Presidential Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Building on its theme, <strong><em>\u2018The Power of Influence\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, Global\nWomen\u2019s Forum Dubai 2020 was focused on discussing how effective policies and\npartnerships in four key areas \u2013 <strong>Government<\/strong>, <strong>Economy, Society, and\nthe Future<\/strong> \u2013 can further women\u2019s positive impact for a better future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ghada Othman shares her views on how to strike a work-life balance, while still pursuing a successful career Ghada Othman: \u201cIf you want to ensure you get what you want, you have to claim your power.
